Specialist Façade Solution providers Avtek, adds another school to its portfolio of education sector clients having successfully completed the design, manufacture and installation of curtain walling, windows and door systems for St Dominic’s Primary School & Nursery in Airdrie.
The school, which was 3 years in the planning after being destroyed in a fire, did not disappoint teachers and pupils alike as they returned after spending the 3 ½ years in temporary accommodation.
The state-of-the-art building, which is now enveloped with an impressive glazed façade using Metal Technology System 17 Capped Curtain Walling, ensures lots of natural light floods the modern classrooms, library, dining hall and nursery.
Now boasting the latest technology in windows and doors, the school provides a comfortable environment for the children which not only delivers thermal enhancement and security but helps to create an effective learning environment.
Ricky Shields, Avtek Solutions’ Commercial Director said “This was an excellent project to deliver with Morrison Construction and different from most other school regeneration projects, in that this was giving a school back to the teachers and pupils of St Dominic’s after such a long time without their own place to call home .
He continued, “Research has shown that children learn best when they are in the right environment and so we have aimed to maximise the natural light and ventilation into the building by using Capped Curtain Walling, Top Hung Windows, Tilt/Turn Windows and Louvres.”
