Avtek specialist façade solution providers are in high spirits having been sub-contracted by Robertson Construction to design, supply, manufacture and install the curtain walling and doors systems for the new £81m facility that they are working on with Boeing UK.
Based at RAF Lossiemouth Scotland, the aircraft hanger is being built to house up to 3 RAF planes at any given time including the UK’s much anticipated P-8A maritime patrol aircraft.
The 15m high steel structure, which will be 120m long by 100m wide, requires Avtek to install no less than 500m² of their Metal Technology System 17 curtain walling as well as System 5-20D doors.
Ricky Shields, Avtek Solutions’ Commercial Director commented “This is a project we have been involved with from a very early design stage, working with Robertson Construction and Ridge Architects. After all of the work at the front end, it is great to see the project now on site and we look forward to adding to the great facilities already at Lossiemouth”.
The project, which is helping to inject hundreds of extra jobs in Scotland, will also incorporate an R&D bay and is due for completion in Spring 2020.
