Commercial Windows Transform Edinburgh High School

Avtek Solutions has successfully completed the project at Firrhill High School in Edinburgh to deliver a complete window refurbishment to the existing building.

Working closely with contractors Topek Limited, Avtek carried out the full design, supply, manufacture and installation of all the commercial windows and doors as well as developing a 2-phase project schedule to run over 13 months to ensure the major works minimised the disruption to the school.

The project involved the replacement of old timber windows with Avtek’s thermally efficient aluminium frames and glazing, which not only made them more energy efficient but transformed the appearance of the school.

As part of the project Avtek designed, specified and manufactured a range of Metal Technology System’s which included the following:

  • System 17 Capped Curtain Walling
  • System 4-35HI Top Hung Windows
  • System 5-35HI Tilt/Turn Windows
  • System 5-20D HI Doors
  • System 23 Louvres.
  • Teleflex winders were also installed to the windows.

Thanks to the close relationship with the main contractors, Avtek was able to complete the new window installation without causing disruption to the school and completed the work on time.
